This position is accountable for handling all aspects relating to Ascend’s Safety Program within the Maintenance Organization to ensure compliance with all company and DOT regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Starting at $52,000 a year
  • Demonstrate personal concern for maintaining a safe environment for themselves and others.
  • Actively promotes the proper use of equipment and adherence to processes.
  • Efficiently complete work in McLeod, Omnitracs, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Manage vehicular accident calls and Collision/injury reporting process.
  • Report accidents to appropriate regulatory agency.
  • Provide research and follow up to accidents and complaints as assigned.
  • Update company accident register daily.
  • Manage workman comp claims and reporting process.
  • Communicate w/other carriers to collect monies for vehicular repairs caused by other parties.
  • Review all new drivers’ hire files for accuracy and correctness.
  • Manage and ensure Drug and Alcohol testing program is in full compliance.
  • Monitor FMCSA website for new violations / CSA scores.
  • ELOG reviews and post-accident reviews.
  • Engage supervisor and issue disciplinary action to drivers as required.
  • Provide formal and informal teaching/coaching drivers about accident prevention and to be violation free.
  • Daily audit of Unassigned Driving and Odometer Jump Report.
  • Manage cargo claims and damaged freight claims, including customer contact on insurance claims and disposition of damaged product.
  • Set up new hires for monthly Safety videos.
  • Lead driver orientation as required.
  • Manage all ELD systems and users and edit logs as needed
  • Update HOS violation reports and send messages to drivers and operations.

  • Experience in transportation industry
  • Experience in Safety and compliance preferred
  • Familiarity with current and pending Government Regulations (DOT/FMCSA, OSHA).
  • Knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations, hours of service (HOS) rules, CSA.
  • McLeod experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Organized and ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to lead projects to streamline reporting process.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience.
  • Ability to promote a culture of trust and safety.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
