The Claims Coordinator is the most senior role in Ascend’s Claims Department supporting the organization’s legal and risk management team. This individual provides quality investigation, analysis and management of all trucking liability, workers’ compensation, cargo, and property damage claims to resolution

  • Starting at $90,000 a year
  • Oversees the daily claims examination activities of the TPA staff, resolving or escalating issues and monitoring progress towards timely and proper disposition of claims.
  • Conducts periodic claim file audits and regular status reviews of prioritized claims ensuring acceptable process and progress to proper disposition.
  • Coordinates input and participation of professionals involved in claim adjudication such as examiners, investigators, internal and external legal counsel, finance, and insurance carriers.
  • Provides timely notification of insurance carriers and broker of evolving claims activity pursuant to insurance policy reporting requirements.
  • Builds relationships with internal and external business partners and vendors
  • Provides operational input to strategic decisions, including input on the development of the functional budget, and various ad hoc claims reporting.
  • Continually researches and maintains knowledge of developments in relevant codes, statues, and regulations with a particular emphasis on General Liability.

  • Minimum three years related experience in claims and risk management.
  • Preference given to candidates with transportation/trucking experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Strong verbal and written communication, problem solving and analytical ability.
  • Advanced ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Extensive knowledge of claims process, state statues relating to insurance, insurance legal issues, and contract insurance language.
  • Delivers exceptional service through positive engagement and patience.
  • Works in a team environment to continuously improve results.
  • Promotes a culture of trust and safety.
  • Ability to navigate highly complex situations with multiple constituents and when needed, facilitate resolution.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to present to executive leadership in a respectful and effective manner, while properly defending recommendations / ideas.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 3+ years of experience in Trucking Liability, Workers’ Compensation and/or insurance practices preferred
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry, claims and the insurance legal and regulatory environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
